About Us
History and Background
We are a small furniture workshop located in rural southern Georgia. We focus on building quality furniture that will stand the test of time. We love to take materials that would otherwise be left to decay, and make something new and functional.
The joy of working with wood began as a child with just a handsaw, and old hammer, and a box of nails. The interest became serious in college when the need to furnish an apartment outweighed the funds available to purchase quality furniture. A few simple hand tools later, a bed, a kitchen table, and some chairs came to life. Over twenty years later, that bed is still in use in my home today.
The Day to Day
We build most of our furniture from solid reclaimed, responsibly sourced local lumber or lumber that is discarded but still sound and usable. It is important to us to make the best possible choices for construction, and sometimes we will use new wood depending on the individual project. Some of our materials come from century old barns and houses, other wood may be sourced from local milling operations.
Our design and building process involves using the most appropriate techniques and materials for the project at hand. We build structurally sound pieces to withstand the duty for which they are designed. We love what we do and the process of turning a pile of old wood into something functional and visually appealing.
